1. What You Can Do
- Use any reference photo you download to create original artwork (drawing, painting, etc.).
- Sell your finished artwork, both online and offline.
- Share your artwork freely. Credit to referencephotosforartists.com is appreciated but not required.
2. What You Cannot Do
- Do not redistribute, resell, or upload the photos themselves (even if modified).
- Do not remove, crop out, or alter the watermark embedded in the images.
- Do not use the images for AI training, image generation tools, or NFTs.
3. About the Photos
All images on this site are high-quality photo references curated to be especially suitable for artists. Some have been enhanced with filters to improve structure, contrast, or color for drawing purposes. All downloadable images include a transparent watermark across them to protect against misuse. If you’re working on a piece and the watermark is obscuring important details, just contact us – we’ll send you a version without the watermark.
4. Membership Access & Pricing
- Weekly Plan: $19 USD /week
- Monthly Plan: $49 USD /month
- Yearly Plan: $199 USD /year
Access to the download library is only available while your membership is active. If your membership ends, so does your ability to download reference photos.
All subscription payments are non-refundable, so we encourage you to try the weekly plan first if you’re unsure.
5. Subscription Management
You must have a PayPal account to subscribe. Subscription payments are handled via PayPal, and you can manage or cancel your plan from your PayPal profile. If you need assistance, feel free to contact us.
Please note that canceling your subscription will result in the immediate loss of access to the photo library. To avoid losing access immediately, we recommend waiting until the end of your current paid period, then canceling just before your next billing cycle begins.
6. Changing Your Plan
If you wish to switch between weekly, monthly, or yearly plans, you’ll need to cancel your current subscription and resubscribe under your preferred plan. If you need help, contact us and we’ll assist you.
7. About the Color Palette Generator Tool
The Color Palette Generator is a free browser-based tool available on this site. It allows you to upload an image and extract its dominant colors as swatches for artistic inspiration.
- Privacy First: Your uploaded image is never sent to any server. All processing happens entirely within your browser. We do not collect, store, or track your images.
- No Account Needed: The tool is available to everyone, with no login or subscription required.
- Usage: This tool is intended for personal, creative use. You may use the generated palettes in your artwork or designs, but you may not replicate, redistribute, or resell the tool itself.
We offer it as a convenience and bonus feature for artists.

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date content, Reference Photos for Artists makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the images for any specific purpose. Use of this site is at your own risk.
9. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Use at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site constitutes your agreement to the modified terms.
